my sister margaret died in 1974 leaving behind three little girls aged 3, 4, and 9, she had
developed a condition called sle (systemic lupus eythematosus) something to-day that can be
controlled, but there is no cure. she had been going about her daily life rsising her girls when she
had to take to her bed with flu. she did not pick up and was admitted to southern general hospital
in glasgow. at the end of visiting one afternoon asout a week later my mother and father were
ushered into a side office to be met by various medical staff to told margaret had a
terminal illness and she had a life expendancy of maybe 9 months. my mother and father
brought her out of the hospital and back home to live with us (for a rest, till you feel better) my
parents never told my sister the news. margaret was a mammy and daddys lassie and devoted to her
mam, she was tall and beautiful kind-hearted and generous to a fault. my mam nursed my sister for
eigthteen months through horrible illness that stole my sister of her looks and dignity while also
bringing up her girls. margaret lost her battle on 22nd june 1974 after lapsing into a coma.
her girls are all grown up now and in their forties, to date she has 7 grandchildren, her beloved
mammy who she loved so dearly followed her 6 years later a broken woman. she had only recently felt
fit enough to return to her wee school cleaning job when coming off her shift one evening was struck
by a car, restpeacefully margaret, your wee sister agnesxxxxxxxx
